Approximately ninety-minutes north of Phoenix, Prescott is a common weekend retreat from the summer heat. Located in the Bradshaw Mountains, the town’s elevation is 5,400 feet but surrounding neighborhoods can be much higher. The Wall Residence is on a 3.5 acre parcel in one of these relatively remote and rugged areas where the 7,200 foot elevation affords expansive views of the mountain range.
The best location on the site to capture these views is on a rock outcropping on the edge of a ridge. The owner interviewed local contractors only to find the typical residential construction process of slab-on-grade was simply not feasible on this area of the site. After meeting with the owner, it was clear the site was ideal for the ASUL System of a pier foundation where the floor elevation of the steel frame could float over the rocks to create the desired view corridors.
Construction is expected to begin Spring of 2023.
